Let’s rock our health, shall we?  (If you’ve not yet read the first two installments of the Hot Mess series, I encourage you to read those first.  You’ll get the most out of these posts if you follow them one by one.)

If you wake up feeling tired, depressed, run down; if you feel sluggish throughout the day, lacking in motivation, and just not your best, then you’ll definitely want to incorporate the following tips into your daily routine.  Our health, as women and moms, is often overlooked.  We tend to care for everyone and everything else before we take time for ourselves and our health… and really without it, we cannot give our best selves to the ones we love or to our WAHM businesses and blogs.  Take control.  Learn how to be less of a hot mess and rock your health.

Rock Your Health


Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the benefits of exercise, but just for kicks, let’s now go over a few.  With regular exercise, you can increase your metabolism… and positively affect your waistline!  Who doesn’t want that, am I right?  Also, you will increase endorphins, making you feel better about yourself and life in general.  You will increase strength in your muscles and bones, and you will improve your immune system.

If you are in a season of life where you are juggling a young family, kids, work, tons of responsibilities and stress, you may not have a whole lot of time to get out to a gym or do any kind of formal exercise classes.  That’s totally okay.  Even if you just get in 15 minutes a day, you will be better off.  I used to be a personal trainer (feels like a lifetime ago), but with chronic illness, a family, my business, and a very busy life, I’ve adapted to a simpler way of going about my exercise and health.


I’m a big proponent of yoga, as I’ve been practicing for many years and have seen a drastic improvement in my overall health.  Although there are many types, I tend to practice more restorative yoga these days.  It helps to restore my alignment, emotions and helps me recover from any other activities I’ve been involved in.

Daily Burn

I also really like Daily Burn for regular exercise.  It allows you to change up your routine and not get bored with one workout.  Daily Burn is an application with a vast library of workouts, all levels, all difficulties, all types.  You can do pretty much any form of exercise depending on your mood and energy level for the day.

Stationary Bike

Lastly, I invested in a cheap exercise bike that I keep in my bedroom.  After my alarm goes off in the morning, I quickly hop on the bike.  I do at least 15 minutes because if I don’t get my movement done in the morning, it doesn’t get done.

Fitness Tracker

Another really neat idea for upping your movement and exercise is using a fitness tracker like the Gear Fit.  I have one and LOVE it.  This device and others like it track your steps and physical activity throughout the day.  They can tell you calories burned, heart rate, and other relevant data to your fitness regime.  When I wear mine, you can find me walking in place in the evenings just to get my steps in.  It will help keep you active, accountable, and focused on getting more movement and exercise throughout the day 😉

By now, if you’ve gone through the previous posts in the series, you should have begun to implement your morning routine.  Part of that routine should include some form of exercise or movement at whatever level you find yourself.  By exercising when your day begins, you will feel energized and ready to finish off your morning routine, and you will hit the ground running!

How to be Less of a Hot Mess and Rock Your Health


If you haven’t yet tried the green drink craze, you are missing out Honey.  Jam packed with nature’s finest, they are a rich source of vitamins and minerals.  You may find that it’s easier to drink your greens than to eat them.  You can add some extra protein for a boost too.  Try to have a green drink every day to reap the benefits.

Two large handfuls of leafy greens- Kale, spinach, romaine, whatever

Two tablespoons of vanilla yogurt (regular or Greek)

Half of a banana

1/2 a tablespoon of flaxseed

1 scoop of protein powder

Milk to suit
